The Bike Ministry is a North Liberty community volunteer bicycle program that repairs donated bikes. The bicycles are then given out to support children and adults that have limited options for transportation in our community for social networking or providing transportation to and from work.

In 2023 we gave out 130 bicycles, mostly to the NL Community Pantry and the Inside Out Re-entry program.  Shifting Gears, since 2009 has refurbished 980 bikes and has diverted 28,000+ pounds of bikes from the landfill.

Hours: Wednesdays 5-7pm through August

Donate:
We take bikes in all sizes and conditions to repair or use for parts. If you want to donate a bike you can leave it in front of the double door garage at the First United Methodist Church, 85 N. Jones Blvd, North Liberty at any time or during volunteer hours.

Volunteer:
Open Volunteer Hours every Wednesday night from 5-7pm through August! Volunteers need no experience in bicycle repair. We join together in helping one another learn about bike repair and maintenance.

Members include: Bob Housel, John Bibby, Rob Wagner, Deb Brastrom, Steve Gibbons, Marian Gibbons, Judy Bornkessel, Dick Bornkessel
